Holland America Line at Rotterdam Cruise Terminal
Holland America Line has Rotterdam in its history and in its fleet: the terminal building was its departure hall for the transatlantic crossings, and its ship Rotterdam carries the city’s name. On the port’s list its ships call on weekends in the morning, the pattern of a home-port day, which is why this page has a note on turnarounds.
Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam and Volendam: that is the Holland America fleet on the port’s list for 2026 and 2027, 45 calls in all. Most of them fall on Sundays and Saturdays and run from 07:00 to 15:00, about 8 h alongside. The shortest Holland America call on the list is 8 h and the longest 11 h. Every call is at the Cruise Terminal on the Wilhelminakade, alongside the pier, with no tender boats.
A Holland America ship in port from 07:00 to 15:00 on a Saturday or Sunday is starting or ending a cruise here: Rotterdam is a home port for this fleet. If you embark that day, there is no day ashore. If you disembark, our private excursion takes your luggage and drops you at Schiphol or your hotel afterwards.

What fits a Holland America call
For a weekend turnaround, the day to think about is disembarkation: our private excursion takes your luggage, visits Delft or Kinderdijk, and drops you at Schiphol, Rotterdam Centraal or your hotel afterwards. For the longer weekday calls both small-group excursions fit; put the times in the calculator to see the margin.

Instead of the ship’s coach excursion
Sixteen guests, not fifty
Our small-group excursions take at most 16 guests with one guide, and a minimum of 4 to run. A private excursion is your party only, with a guide and a minibus for the day.
Timed to your ship
We follow your ship’s real arrival and departure, plan the day backwards from all aboard and keep a safety margin. Our two written guarantees cover the rest.
Guided in English, private in your language
The small-group excursions are guided in English. The private excursion can be guided in Dutch, German, French, Spanish or Italian as well.
Free cancellation until 24 hours before
Book now for a call next year and change your mind up to a day before. If the ship skips Rotterdam, you get a refund or a new date.
Two guarantees, in writing
A shore excursion is not an ordinary day out. Your ship leaves without you if the day goes wrong, so we carry that risk rather than asking you to.

Back on board on time, or we get you to the next port
If a delay on our side means you miss your ship, we refund your excursion in full and we arrange your transport to the ship’s next port of call. Every route is planned backwards from your all aboard time with a safety margin nothing is scheduled into.

Ship does not dock? Your money back, or another date
Weather, a port skipped, a changed itinerary: if your ship does not call at Rotterdam, you choose between a full refund, including any pickup supplement, and moving your booking to another date at no cost, subject to availability. Show us the notice from your cruise line or the ship’s tracked position and that is all we need.

Frequently asked questions
Where does Holland America Line dock in Rotterdam?
At the Cruise Terminal on the Wilhelminakade, Kop van Zuid, alongside the pier. You walk off over a covered gangway into the terminal building; there are no tender boats in Rotterdam. Our guide waits at the terminal exit with a sign.
How long is a Holland America ship in Rotterdam?
On the port’s list most Holland America calls run from 07:00 to 15:00, about 8 h. The exact hours for your date are in the table above. All aboard is set by Holland America Line and is usually 30 to 60 minutes before departure.
Will we be back on board in time?
Yes. We plan the day backwards from all aboard and keep a safety margin. If a delay on our side ever made you miss the ship, we refund the excursion and arrange transport to the next port, up to EUR 100 per person, under article 15 of our terms.
Is the tour in my language?
The small-group excursions are guided in English. The private excursion can be guided in Dutch, German, French, Spanish or Italian, say so when you book.
Can I book before Holland America Line publishes the final times?
Yes. Book the date you have. We follow the ship’s actual times on the day, and if the ship does not dock in Rotterdam you choose between a full refund and a free move to another date.
